WWT/PWA World Cup Tenerife 2026 - Day 1

Kickoff with the challenger rounds

The WWT/PWA Wave Tour has been in Tenerife since Friday, and the first heats of the qualifying round were held that very afternoon. These preliminary heats are necessary because 54 men and 22 women are registered for the event.

Also competing in the Wave World Cup are slalom racers such as Nico Prien and Matteo Iachino. Bobbi-Lynn de Jong is also competing in the wave event for the first time and won her heat right away.

On the first day, the wind was only strong enough for three heats of the Challenger Round, but the contest at the World Cup spot Cabezo in El Medano runs through August 9 - so there’s plenty of time to determine the winners in all classes once the trade winds pick up.

In addition to the pros, juniors and masters will also take to the water, and the Spanish champions will be crowned.
